Plastic and Horn Rim Eyeglasses

Online Catalog of Vintage Plastic Frames from the 1950's, 60's, and early 70's. Most of theses frames are new, old warehouse stock. Our catalog includes frames designed for women and for men.

Women's Plastic Rhinestone: We recently purchased a warehouse stock of never used women's rhinestone glasses. This lot includes a selection of hand engraved aluminum frames made in Italy by the designer Gaspari. Generally, we have only one example of each style. All these frames date to the 1960's or early 1970's. All are in like new condition.

Women's Designer Sunglasses: We have a large selection of never used designer sunglasses from the 1960's and 1970's. All frames are in excellent, like new, condition. We have just one example of each style. These frames were custom made and very few of any one particular style was produced.

Men's Designer Sunglasses: We have a limited supply of never used men's sunglasses from the 1960's and 1970's. All frames are in excellent, like new, condition.

Harley Davidson
A large selection of vintage Harley Davidson eyeglasses along with a few sunglasses and clip-on.

National Health Care: A large selection of never used National Health Care Eyewear from the UK.

Rodenstock A large selection of vintage Rodenstock eyeglasses. Most are mostly designed for women. These frames are from an old warehouse stock. They are in like new condition.

Gucci A large selection of vintage Gucci eyeglasses. Most are gender neutral. A few were designed for men and a couple were designed for women. These frames are from an old warehouse stock. They are in like new condition.

Men's Plastic Frames: Men's plastic frames from the 1960's are extremely difficult to find. I was lucky in that I stumbled upon a warehouse stock of such frames. Many of the frames were made in Italy and France. A few frames were made in Germany. All the frames are in like new condition. I have just gotten in some Harley Davidson eyeglasses. Generally, I have just one or two examples of any given style. However, I have dozens of examples of the most popular 60's styles. Because I have more than one example of many styles, these frames are suitable for use in theater productions and movies, where backup frames for major characters are a neccesity. Check out our round lens frames.

Men's Plastic Fades: The "Fade" such as gray fade, brown fade, and black fade, in which the color fades from dark at the top to clear at the bottom was a very popular design from the 1950's to the early 1970's. We have a supply of these frames purchased from an optician who closed his business in the mid 1970's. Most frames are new and in their original packaging.

Browline Frames: The Browline style was made for both men and women. This style used a plastic cap over a metal frame. Because plastic tends to shrink over the years, this style in useable condition is the most difficult vintage frame to find today. The style is also known as Combination Frames. This style was popular in the 1950's and 60's.

Catseye Eyeglasses: We recently purchased a warehouse stock that contained many examples of the catseye design. We have several hundred frames in stock. Generally, we have just one example of each style. The warehouse we purchased was used by salemen. The stock consist of one of each style and are salesmen's samples.

Round Lens Frames: Eyeglasses that have round lenses can be made from PLASTIC or WIRE RIMS. Wire rims have been very popular for nearly 100 years.   In the 1960's, plastic round lens frames became popular. One method of making round plastic lens frames was to make a base of steel wire and coat that wire with plastic.  Such frames are very durable and these are the easiest to find today.  Plastic frames with round lenses tend to be gender neutral and are worn by men and women. For more styles of men's and women's plastic frames, click men's frames, or women's frames.

Children and Small Sizes: Our warehouse just purchased a lot of small size and children eyeglasses. These frames are never used warehouse stock. Many of these frames were made in the 70's and later.

Women's Plastic Frames: Our warehouse purchased included more than 100 plastic frames designed for women. Fortunately, we have more than one example of many of these styles. Many of these frames date between 1965 and 1985. All are in excellent, like new, condition.

Womens Designer Frames: We have a good selection of women's designer eyeglass frames made in France, Italy, Germany, and in the US. Most of these frames date to the 1960's. A few date in the 70's and early 80's. All are one-of-a-kind. Please email with questions or call 207-872-5849 for more information.

1965 through 1975 Plastic Frames: I recently purchased a warehouse stock of plastic frames made from 1965 to 1975.  These frames are never used and in their original packaging.  This period saw the introduction of new lens shapes. Traditionally, lenses were round, oval, ovid, and octagon. New lenses tended to be rectangular or square with corners rounded to soften these shapes. Many of these frames had a large lens area.
Wire rim frames from this period also have a rectangular or squarish shape, often with oversize lenses.

Clearance and Liquidation Sales . . . We often have warehouse lots and old store stock that we can offer at low cost. Most of these frames are new, never used, and were acquired when we purchased the content of an optical warehouse or optical business. Such frames are sold at $29.95 including shipping. No returns, refunds, or exchanges on clearance items. Be sure to ask many questions about size and fit before you order.

Military Eyeglass Frames: We recently purchased a surplus lot of plastic military frames that date from the mid 1960's through 1992. Most of the frames have never been mounted with lenses. We also have a selection of plastic aviator frames with sunglass lenses. For convenience we have included metal aviator frames, and gas mask frames from WWII. We also have in stock many military goggles designed for various use including a few pair made to be worn by individuals who witnessed atomic bomb explosions.
