John Denver wearing Marshwood Eyeglasses

John Denver, marshwood eyeglasses

John Denver is wearing a style of eyeglasses called Marshwood. This style was the first to have nose pads. The first Marshwoods were round. The style became very popular. Lens shapes include round, oval, ovid, octogon, and square. Most Marshwood were made with a heavy steel frame wrapped with either white or yellow gold. The gold content of these frames is quite high. Most are marked 1/10 12k gold filled. By comparison, gold washed frames contain only 1/1000 gold.
