Leather Magnifying Glass

A home-made magnifying glass most likely put together by a leather worker or cobbler.
The glass is constructed of two pieces of leather
with what appears to be
an old strong eyeglass lens.
The magnification is powerful probably 10X or more.
I believe this item was made in the early part of the 1800's.
I am certain that the lens dates into the 1700's.
