Unusual pressed paper case. This case does not have the leatherette covering commonly used in the 19th Century. It is possible to read the newspaper from which the case was constructed. Interesting topics are: United States flagship, Mississippi, March 29, 1847. Also the name M.C.Perry, commanding home squadron. Many other parts of the paper can still be read.
Inside measurements are 5 1/4 inches by 1 1/8 inches. This cas was designed to hold straight temple spectacles.
