A remarkably well preserved pair of 18th Century tortoise shell spectacles.
These eyeglasses date to the third quarter of the 18th Century. They are
in like new condition. One reason they are so well preserved is that they
were stored in their original shegreen case. The case is silver mounted.
The hinge is tight. The snap lock works well. Two small pieces of shegreen
are missing. One piece is missing from one side of the case near the bottom.
It appears that the case was dropped causing this damage.
The second missing piece is on the cover.
The missing piece is small and not noticable unless you are looking for
it.
