This reading aid was used before the invention of eyeglasses in 1727. Nurenburg, Germany was the center of production for inexpensive quizzing glasses made between 1600 and 1725. This is a small size quizzer. Many such quizzers were sent to the Colonies to be used as fire starting glasses in the late 1700's. They work well for this purpose. Because they were carried in a sack or pocket, most show signs of much use.
