Double Folding Temple Spectacles
Stock Number 1005-40

Pair # 1005-40 are double folding steel spectacles with the middle size wig loop.  General Putman made a point of wearing spectacles exactly like this pair.  At the time of the Revolution, most English officers wore round lens spectacles.  Also, notice the two pins that stick up or down near the temple joint.  These spectacles were made before screws used to hold spectacles together had a slot for a screwdriver.  To change lenses, it is necessary to tightly grab the pins with a pair of pliers to turn them to loosen the lens.
Size: 1/2 inches wide. Temple arms are 5 3/4. Frames are in excellent condition. They have their original lenses. However, lenses can be changed for re-enactment or theatre use.
